Trumpet Vine Plant “flame vine”, Sankrant vel, begonia venusta

Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans), also known as trumpet creeper, is a fast-growing perennial vine. Growing trumpet vine creepers is really easy and although some gardeners consider the plant invasive, with adequate care and pruning, trumpet vines can be kept under control. This lovely climber is a member of the Bignoniaceae family and is native to the southeastern United States.

The trumpet vine flower is great for attracting hummingbirds to the landscape. The beautiful tubular flowers range in color from yellow to orange. The blooming period of the Trumpet Vine spans from late spring to early fall, though blooming may be limited for those planted in shady locations.

Care Tips:-

1. Sunlight: Trumpet vines thrive in full sun to partial shade. Ensure they receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal flowering.
2. Soil: These vines are adaptable to a range of soil types but prefer well-draining soil. However, they can tolerate slightly moist soil as long as it’s not waterlogged.
3. Watering: Established trumpet vines are relatively drought-tolerant. Water deeply and infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
4. Fertilization: Trumpet vines don’t require heavy fertilization. Too much nitrogen can lead to excessive foliage growth at the expense of flowers. Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring
5. Pruning: Regular pruning is essential to control the vigorous growth of trumpet vines. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Remove dead or diseased wood and trim back to maintain a tidy appearance and promote new growth.
